Poems Written During June and July 2015 but not included in (The Innermost Core)

Unending Turmoil

It’s a new day

A new start

A clean slate

What will today bring I wonder

This new day full of promise

Full of expectation.

More tedium, more stress, more meltdowns

More failure more disappointment

I should be used to this by now

People not listening to me

People misunderstanding me

Things going wrong

Things not going to plan

Tunnel Vision

Speeding down a dark narrow tunnel

Oblivious to what is outside the tunnel

Well that’s life isn’t it?

Your so naïve aren’t you?

It’s always been like this

Just accept it, get on with things

Nothing will ever change

Stop complaining about everything.

Concrete Values

My ethical viewpoints

Are set in stone

World peace is of high importance

Equality is a human right

Not a political tool.

All discrimination is offensive

I will never surrender

My principles of peace and

Equality to narrow minded

And lazy thinkers.

The Infestation of Tradition

Is tradition, reason enough?

For something to continue

Things do change things do progress

Certain practices may remain the same

But their meaning might alter

And eventually traditions go

Out of date.

Modern Disgrace

If you get left behind

It’s your fault for being lazy

If you’re not outgoing

If you’re not like us

Then you will fail

If you’re not a people person

Then you might as well give up

Greed, greed, greed

Self, first last and always

You better be quick

Before the drawbridge

Is pulled up.

Tears Before the Eternal Sleep

I see it there before me

The end, the end, the end

All the best years

Lie behind me locked in the past

Never to be seen again

What lies in the future?

A boring job and a lonely existence

Living in a grotty flat

With no friends, no family

No more books to write or read

No more films to watch

No more museums to visit.

The Inner Sanctum

Within the walls of this sanctum

Dwells a destructive evil daemon

For years it has been fed and nourished

Concealed within this sanctum it has grown

Should it be revealed to the world?

Or should it be

Contained within these walls?

The Spirit of Human Rights

With all the good people

In the world

Saying all the right things

About all the wrong things

You would think that

Intelligent people with

Decency in their hearts

Would realise

That problems need to be solved

And things need to be improved

One by one these

Good and intelligent people

Would enlighten the good

But not so intelligent people

So that the spirit of human rights

Enters the hearts and minds of all.

What’s Really Wrong with This?

Sharing property

Sharing finance

Good living conditions for all

Equal opportunities for all

No homelessness

No poverty

No war

No racism

No homophobia

No anti-Semitism

Why wouldn’t this work?

Glorious Progress

Advancements in technology

Advancements in medical care

Advancements in science

Advancements in equality

Yes indeed we are

Making progress

In the right areas.

More Life in the Darkness

There are some who’s

Strange belief it is

That I enjoy being depressed

That I enjoy feeling sad

That I enjoy being disappointed

It is true that I have

More dark moods

Than light moods

But this does not mean

That I like being

Shrouded in fog

However

I have learnt from

These low moods, anxieties

Struggles and ordeals

Dealing with

These dark experiences

Have made me a more

Complete person.

  1. I saw your link to your poems on an Aspie facebook group; they’re really good!
I identify with them except in my case some would have more added about how despite all of that I refuse to give up and refuse to give in to defeat because tomorrow can be better.
    Thanks for sharing!
